Contextual Statement

I got an internship with a nonprofit organization called Keshet in the summer of 2024. I had been volunteering with Keshet since I was around fifteen years of age, and it was exciting to get an internship opportunity with them. The job itself revolved around facilitating civic involvement with the (at the time) upcoming election. I chose to do a PowerPoint educating people on how to vote by mail, as I noticed that many people didn’t understand how to do so. Being in college, I am around many people who aren’t at home for important elections, and who were never taught how to use mail-in ballots.

This assignment showcases my skills in promoting civic engagement and presenting important information to young adults. Although I have experience working with kids, teens, and adults- young adults my age was a realm that I hadn’t much experience in before this internship project. I felt it important to illustrate that I can properly tailor to many specific audiences depending on the context, information at hand, and severity of the issue. This shows that I have prowess in data collection, research, political awareness, and project creation.

Reflection

This internship taught me about how my skills in research and project creation could be applied to the real world. It displays my experience in nonprofit work and my ability to go outside my comfort zone.
