I was an avid reader, and I loved to write and learn. I loved spending time with my little brother, and trying to learn about how he saw the world, and how I could be a mentor to him. I knew in early high school that I wanted to go into the psychology field. I enjoyed classes in psychology, sociology, literature, and photography.<\/p>\n<p>My first job I was exposed to was my mother being a special education teacher, and I immediately grew an interest for working with children. I saw how little support my mother was getting, and how she couldn\u2019t do all she wanted to for the students. I want to help kids with developmental\/intellectual disabilities, and hopefully contribute positively to children\u2019s mental health. Regardless, I knew I wanted to get experience working with children. I started tutoring, babysitting, and dog-sitting in middle school, and got my first \u201creal\u201d job in high school.<\/p>\n<p>I grew a love of social work and giving back to communities around me. I began volunteering in early high school, and I continue to work with one of these organizations to this day. I originally got involved with said organization to find community, as during the height of COVID-19 I felt alone and not supported. This relates to my personal identities, and continues to be a motive for me to delve more into developmental psychology as a future profession. This portfolio delves into my skills with writing, project creation, research, and more. I\u2019ve heard the phrase, \u201cleave the world better than when you found it,\u201d but I discovered at an early age that I can\u2019t help everyone.
